The ISU Department of Chemistry students and faculty frequently perform outreach events at local elementary, middle, and high schools to engage with students using a variety of chemistry demonstrations.

Faculty and undergraduates from our Chemistry Learning Community participated in Science Night at Fellows Elementary School in Ames, Iowa. Elementary and middle school students discovered the wonders of chemistry by learning how polymers are made, freezing things in liquid nitrogen, and making slime.

Our Society of Chemistry Undergraduate Majors (S.C.U.M.) performs chemistry demonstrations to engage and educate our campus and local communities.
