At The Zhang Lab, we are dedicated to pioneering innovative synthetic strategies and methods that streamline access to bioactive chemical structures. Our research is at the forefront of organic chemistry, focusing on three main areas:

1) Peripheral and Scaffold Modifications: We explore modifications of pharmaceutically relevant molecules to enhance their efficacy and safety.
2) Concise Total Synthesis: Our team is adept at the total synthesis of bioactive polycyclic natural products and analogs, aiming for efficiency and precision.
3) New Catalytic Systems: We develop novel catalytic systems to achieve important selectivity and functionalization patterns, pushing the boundaries of chemical synthesis.

Our program integrates advanced organic chemistry concepts and technologies, providing team members with expertise in reaction development, mechanistic studies, and the multistep synthesis of complex molecules.

We actively seek collaboration with research groups from academia to industry to foster a multidisciplinary approach and drive innovation. By working together, we can achieve greater scientific breakthroughs and expand the impact of our research.

We are deeply committed to investing in the career growth of our students. We offer tailored mentorship and professional development opportunities to help each team member achieve their unique career goals. Whether you aspire to a career in academia, industry, or beyond, The Zhang Lab provides the support and resources you need to succeed. Join us in our quest to innovate and excel in the field of organic chemistry.
