Bernie Gerstein received his BS in Chemistry at Purdue University in 1953 and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at Iowa State University, 1960. He is an emeritus professor in Chemistry and an Associate at Ames Lab. His research interests include effective teaching of physical science; the dynamics of learning and applications of transient techniques in magnetic resonance to problems in energy, materials science, polymer science, and heterogeneous catalysis.
