Sadow Group work focuses upon the development of new catalytic reactions and new catalysts for application in green chemistry, stereoselective synthesis, and the conversion of abundant raw materials into commodity and specialty chemicals. Students in the Sadow group learn skills needed to prepare organic, organometallic, and inorganic compounds, the spectroscopic tools to characterize catalytic sites, and experience with kinetic techniques needed to identify viable reaction mechanisms. These skills are applied to hydroamination, CH bond activation and functionalization, and deoxygenation catalysis.
