Joselyn Chavarria, a high school student, completed a chemistry internship during the summer of 2024 as part of the ACS Project SEED program in the Kovnir research group.

Micke was named a winner of the Student Research Competition in the Educate, Communicate, and Translate topic area at Pacifichem 2025.

Kirill Kovnir has been elected to serve a three-year term on the Oak Ridge National Laboratory SNS-HFIR User Group (SHUG) Executive Committee. 

In early October, the Chemical Instrumentation Facility completed the installation of an AVIIIHD300 nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer and autosampler, located in 1702 Gilman Hall.

After graduate studies in the Kovnir and Vela research groups, Dr. Philip Yox moved to a postdoctoral position at Colorado School of Mines. One of his works there was recently recognized by Best Paper Award form Chemistry of Materials.

On September 4th, Julia Zaikina and Kirill Kovnir were honored at the Fall 2025 LAS Convocation and Awards Ceremony. 

Jian Wang excelled in Kovnir Group as senior Postdoctoral Fellow in 2017-2019. After that he started an independent career at the Department of Chemistry at Wichita State University (Kansas).

Beatrise Berzina, a research scientist in the Anand group, has been selected as one of the three winners of this year's NATO Science & Technology Organization Women & Girls in Science (WGS25) Challenge!

Anna and Edward Yeung have established two new fellowships to recruit the very best graduate students to the Department of Chemistry.
