Krishna K. Sharma Received Postdoctoral Seed Grant

Dr. Krishna K. Sharma received Postdoctoral Seed Grant 2022 from Iowa State University. This competitive grant provides research funding in the role of a principal investigator to develop an independent research program.

Sharma is working in the Department of Chemistry in Prof. Prof. Brett VanVeller’s lab. His research is centered on developing novel synthetic strategies to explore peptides in drug discovery and development, which will help to discover new therapeutic agents.

“Antibiotic resistant-bacteria are a growing health crisis, thus, there is a critical need to develop new antibiotics with different mechanisms of action compared to current approved drugs,” Sharma said. “My approach will be focused on identification of newer scaffolds against antibiotic resistant pathogenic bacteria. This seed grant presents a great opportunity for me to explore new ideas at the initial stage as a principal investigator. It will help me to think independently for solving drug discovery issues. I am grateful to Iowa State for this funding. Thankful to Prof. Brett VanVeller for his great support.” he said.
