Theresa Windus and Ryan Richard have been awarded an NSF NEU Award for Sustainability Institute for Machine learning and Collaborative Open-source Development of Enzymatic Simulations (SIMCODES).
Other partners on the REU include: Myra Cohen, Mengdi Huai, and Qi Li from Computer Science. As well as Mark Gordon, Davit Potoyan, Xueyu Song, and Peng Xu from the Chemistry Department.
Congratulations to all!
Below is a summery of the REU program:
“Our overall goal is to provide very early career undergraduate students with research experiences in the multidisciplinary fields of computational chemistry, biochemistry, and computer science to develop software, simulation, and analysis techniques to design next generation enzymatic catalysts. The cross-disciplinary nature of the project along with the one-week bootcamp, weekly cohort meetings, professional development activities, personal mentoring, and a final ISU campus-wide poster symposium will provide students with a unique perspective to the varied aspects of research. We expect to increase the number of students with diverse backgrounds and limited research exposure who continue into STEM degree programs.”
