Congratulations to Irmi Schewe-Miller for being award the Department of Chemistry Wilkinson Award!
In January of 1965, Iowa State alumnus Dr. Franc A. Landee (B.S. 1933) and the Dow Chemical Company established the Dow-Wilkinson Chemistry Teaching Award in Iowa State University's Department of Chemistry in honor or Dr. Wilkinson's superior qualities as a teacher. The award is presented annually to recognize meritorious, inspired teaching in the Chemistry Department.
Irmi has been teaching the Inorganic Chemistry Lab since 2008. It is a course for chemistry majors and other interested students in their senior year. She loves getting to know her students and helping them conduct meaningful experiments that bring together much of what they learned in their studies here. She also tries to keep in touch with them after graduation, and enjoys seeing how they continue their career paths.
