Georgiy AkopovThe Kovnir Group is excited to announce that Dr. Georgiy Akopov has been selected as Ames Laboratory’s 2019 Spedding Fellow. The prestigious Spedding Fellowship honors Ames Laboratory’s first director, Dr. Frank Spedding, and provides an exceptional opportunity for recent Ph.D. recipients of outstanding talent and ability to pursue their own research directions in support of the Lab’s scientific objectives. Akopov is a solid-state chemist currently working as a postdoctoral research associate in Kirill Kovnir’s group. Akopv received his B.A. in Chemistry at Rutgers University in 2014, and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2018. He will begin the year-long Fellowship on October 1 working on "Complex Metal Pnictides Containing Refractory Metalloids, Boron and Carbon."

Congratulations to Georgiy!
