Bio: Stephen Maldonado is Professor of Chemistry at the University of Michigan and a faculty member in the Program in Applied Physics. His research focuses on electrochemical charge-transfer processes relevant to electronics, chemical synthesis, and energy conversion and storage. The Maldonado group studies semiconductor and electrode interfaces, photoelectrochemistry, nanomaterials, and new electrochemical methods for chemical and materials synthesis, with particular interest in developing systems for solar-energy conversion and storage. Maldonado earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Iowa and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, followed by postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology before joining the University of Michigan.
