Autumn Tian Qiu, Assistant Professor
Michigan State University
Host: Young-Jin Lee
Abstract: TBA
Bio: Tian (Autumn) Qiu is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Michigan State University, with affiliations in the Neuroscience Program, Integrative Biology, and the MSU Center for PFAS Research. Her research lies at the intersection of analytical chemistry, environmental toxicology, microbiology, and neuroscience. The Qiu Lab develops and applies advanced mass spectrometry methods to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying interactions among environmental contaminants, the microbiome, and animal hosts, with current interests including PFAS analysis and the microbiome-gut-brain axis. Qiu earned her B.S. in Chemistry from Peking University and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota, where her doctoral research investigated mechanisms of nanomaterial toxicity to environmental bacteria. She subsequently was a Beckman Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, studying chemical signaling in the microbiome-gut-brain axis, before joining Michigan State University in 2022.
