Junqi Li, Assistant Professor

Bio: Junqi Li is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Iowa State University whose research focuses on developing innovative synthetic methods to access new molecular architectures with applications in medicine and drug discovery. Her group explores skeletal editing reactions, including atom-swapping strategies that transform the core framework of organic molecules, as well as the synthesis and stereochemical behavior of planar chiral compounds.

Dr. Li received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore and her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she worked with Professor Martin Burke on automated small-molecule synthesis. She later completed postdoctoral studies with Professors F. Dean Toste and Scott Miller at the University of California, Berkeley and Yale University. Since joining Iowa State in 2019, she has built a nationally recognized research program at the intersection of synthetic methodology, catalysis, and molecular design.
