William S. Jenks, professor, received his B.S. from UCLA in 1986.
He attended Columbia University as an NSF Predoctoral Fellow and
subsequently as a Division of Organic Chemistry (ACS) fellow,
receiving his Ph.D. in 1991. After working as a postdoctoral fellow
at Columbia, he joined the faculty at Iowa State in the fall of
1992. He was named a Cottrell Scholar by the Research Corporation
in 1995 and received and NSF Career Award in 1996. He is an
associate editor of Advances in Photochemistry. His on-campus
recognitions include the 1998 Wilkinson award for undergraduate
teaching, LXA Professor of the Month in February 1996, and being
named an Outstanding Ally by the LGBTAA in 1999. In 2002, Dr. Jenks
received the Award for Excellence in Teaching from the LAS College.
