Robert Samuel Houk, professor, received his undergraduate training at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania (B.S. 1974) and completed his doctoral work at Iowa State University (Ph.D. 1980). Following postdoctoral work at Ames Laboratory, he joined the Iowa State faculty in 1981. His awards include the Lester W. Strock Award, 1986; Maurice F. Hasler Award, 1993; ACS Award in Chemical Instrumentation, 1993; Wilkinson Teaching Award, 1993, and the Anachem Award, 2000. He serves on the Editorial Board of Spectrochimica Acta Part B and the Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry.
