Joseph Burnett
Joseph Burnett, lecturer, received his B.S. from Allegheny College
in Meadville, Pa, in 1982 and his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from
the University of Pittsburgh in 1992. His postdoctoral experience
was in the research group of Patricia Thiel, Distinguished
Professor of Chemistry, at the Ames Laboratory and the Department
of Chemistry at Iowa State University. From 1993 to 1996 Dr.
Burnett was a visiting assistant professor in the Department of
Chemistry at the University of Iowa. In 1997 Dr. Burnett returned
to Iowa State University as an instructor and undergraduate
laboratory associate in the areas of instrumental analysis,
quantitative analysis, and physical chemistry. In 2000 he received
the Iowa State University Liberal Arts and Sciences College Award
for P&S Excellence. In 2003 Dr. Burnett accepted a lecturer
position with the Department of Chemistry. He is a member of the
American Chemical Society and serves as the chair of the Ames Local
Section of the ACS since 2000.
