Dennis C. Johnson is a native of Minnesota. He earned the B.A.
degree in chemistry (1963) from Bethel College, Minnesota, and the
Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry (1967) from the University of
Minnesota in Minneapolis. He joined the chemistry staff at ISU in
1968. At ISU, Professor Johnson received the Wilkinson Award in
Chemistry Teaching (1972, 1983), a LAS College Award in Teaching
(1989), the M.E. White Graduate Advising Award (1996).
Distinguished Professor Award (1999) and Alumni Faculty Citation
(1999). He also received the Ion Chromatography Award from the
International Ion Chromatography Conference (1988), the Iowa
Governor's Science Medal for Science Application (1991), the Palmer
Award in Chromatography from the Minnesota Chromatography Forum
(1993), the C.N. Reilley Award from the Society for
Electroanalytical Chemistry (1997), the Alumnus-of-the-Year Award
at Bethel College (1994), and he was recently elected as a Fellow
of the Electrochemical Society. He has been or continues to be a
member of the editorial advisory boards of the journals Analytical
Chimica Acta (1977-), Electroanalysis (1991-), Analytical Chemistry
(1992-95), and Journal of Solid-State Electrochemistry (1997-). Dr.
Johnson retired in May 2002.
