Kinetics and mechanisms of inorganic and organometallic reactions; catalytic oxidation with molecular oxygen; activation of dioxygen by transition metal complexes; chemistry of reactive intermediates in transition metal-dioxygen interactions; solution chemistry of free radicals; use of laser-flash photolysis and other photochemical methods to generate and observe organic and inorganic transients, including free radicals, intermediates in dioxygen activation, high-valent metal complexes, and excited electronic states.
